WORKING TITLE: Community Relations Specialist – Part Time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Erath County Senior Citizens, Inc. –working to support all programs. Responsible for planning and executing activities associated with Friendly Visitors Program, including developing volunteer cadre (including recruitment and training), matching volunteers and participants and documenting and meeting program goals. Assist Executive Director with fund development, including special events, appeals, on-line campaigns, special holiday programs, as well as community stewardship and cultivation activities. Other duties include creating and implementing a development communication strategy that supports the ECSC mission. The Associate will also manage key aspects of client data software. Must be aware of other services offered by Erath County Senior Citizens, Inc. and be able to provide the public with information about those services. Must maintain effective communication skills with the public, senior citizens, supervisor, and Board of Directors, both in person and over the telephone. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or from the Board of Directors of the Erath County Senior Citizens, Inc.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
1. Education: Associate’s Degree or one year of full-time employment at a
community-based agency. Courses in office or computer skills helpful.
2. Experience: Sufficient basic business, social media, and computer training or
experience. Previous volunteer coordination and fundraising experience preferred.
3. Other: Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, lift 25 lbs, and sit for extended periods of time, reach overhead, and climb stairs if needed. Must have a current driver’s license and properly insured and operating motor vehicle.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Must be adept at building relationships with individual donors, key stakeholders and community partners. Be a self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team to provide a clear vision and approach to fundraising and lead the planning and execution of donor-centered events and campaigns. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and social media, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have a genuine interest in helping to serve the needs of the elderly in Erath County. Must be able to provide the public with information about the various services offered by the agency. Ability to positively interact with a diverse audience, including foundations, public agencies, corporate leaders, community development organizations and service recipients. Enjoys being part of a small team and pitching in as required. Some evening and weekend work will be required. Must be able to provide own transportation.
DEDICATION OF TIME
Exceptional time management, project management and organizational skills are needed for the Community Relations Associate. Tasks include: Managing Friendly Visitors Progam, including recruitment of volunteers and participants; Monitor social media platforms; Make updates as needed to Web site; Create newsletters for key stakeholders; Coordination of seasonal client programs; Coordination of special programs for clients – including pet food and Ensure; Delivery of meals when there is no volunteer available; Organization of the annual fundraiser events; Attend community fairs/events as requested; Organize other special event or outreach efforts as needed; Assume responsibility for other projects and assignments as assigned by the Executive Director.
Position could be converted to full-time, should the need arise, at the discretion of the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
